JUDGES

Our judges are composed of a panel of experts, who between them, hold a wide plethora of industry specific skills and knowledge.

Being a hotelier is not just a job, it is a mentality and our judges have a deep understanding and appreciation of the dedication involved. Candidates from all 19 categories will be reviewed, and an unbiased decision will be made collectively by the panel to recognise the most outstanding Hoteliers of the Year.

Judging Round 1:

The judging panel will decide on the top five candidates for each category based on the facts provided in the applications.

Judging Round 2:

Phone interviews will be conducted with the finalists.* This will support the judges’ decision, along with the initial application submitted.

*General Managers will Have Face-To-Face Interviews With The Judging Panel On October 30th 2018 In Shanghai.

Corporate Solutions Asia Pacific – Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL)

Jenny has over 30 years of experience in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, with roles in operations and management, including Catering/Events Manager, Professional Conference Organiser, Director of Sales and Marketing, Executive Assistant Manager, Hotel Manager and General Manager. Jenny’s current position is with leading real estate company JLL in Corporate Solutions as Director & Head of Workplace Experience Asia Pacific, she is responsible for the strategic development of market-leading hospitality offerings and the delivery of service solutions for global enterprises.

dr. sacha stöcklin

Managing Director, CieCAS

Dr. Sacha Stöcklin is the Managing Director of the Center of innovative and entrepreneurial Culinary Arts and Services (CieCAS). CieCAS works in collaboration with the Institute for Economic Promotion (WIFI International) of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, bringing to China official European food and beverage education to exceptional chefs and restaurant managers. Dr. Stöcklin has nearly 20 years of experience in hospitality education, working as a college director, academic dean, program manager and lecturer for Les Roches and the Swiss Education Group. Dr. Stöcklin is a Certified Hospitality Educator and holds a Doctorate in Education (EdD) with a focus on Educational Management.

senior operations lead for lra by deloitte

A graduate of Ecôle hôtelière de Lausanne and a certified Sommelier, Christine is a hospitality professional with more than 29 years’ experience, 18 of which have been in Asia. Christine is a Senior Operations lead with LRA by Deloitte; a leading global provider of customer experience measurement services for multinational companies with complex customer interactions. She manages a global portfolio of hospitality clients across the region including Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. Christine’s interests lie in mentoring aspiring hoteliers and she has contributed columns to Biz Events Asia and is an examiner for the EHL student recruitment interviews.

Claudia Al-Bala’a

Professional Coach, Coaching for Authenticity

Having spent nearly 30 years working in the hospitality industry, Claudia’s profile is enriched by her time at Trusthouse Forte Hotels Plc, ITT Sheraton and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. Currently, she runs her own Integral Coaching Business in Singapore. In her last corporate position, Claudia was the SVP, Human Resources at Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts. As a leader in Human Resources, she valued mentoring and developing hoteliers at all levels of the organisation. Her investment in people and passion for the industry shone through her work. Claudia is originally from Germany but has lived the majority of her life outside of her home country. Being a life-long expat, she is an apt professional who thrives seamlessly in a foreign environment, working with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds. For the last 19 years, Claudia has been working and living in Singapore.

Communications Specialist and Consultant – Hospitality Industry

Having held senior management roles for premium brands such as Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, American Express Company International and Jumeirah Group, Diane understands the intricacies behind crafting the communication and content stategies for international luxury brands. Her last China posting in Guangzhou had her juggling two hats: as chief editor of a monthly lifestyle magazine and as creative content curator and consultant for a bijou collection of luxury resorts and hotels in China and Asia. Diane is a firm believer and advocate of compelling narratives of hotels that align with guest and colleague engagement and, ultimately, with business excellence goals.
